Overview
EAP offers UC students the opportunity to gain meaningful exposure to Russia and experience firsthand its society and politics while mastering the Russian language. Moscow is a diverse and exciting city with an incredibly rich cultural life. The program includes weekly excursions throughout Moscow to sites such as the Kremlin, museum tours, and outings to the Russian ballet and other theater performances. Additional program excursions will take you to St. Petersburg, Tsaritsino Estate, Petergoph, and Vladimir-Suzdal.
The advanced language and culture program is designed for students who have at least two years of university-level Russian. Students are immersed in the Russian culture. The program provides an avenue for you to perfect your language abilities and to gain fluency. All program participants take a course in advanced Russian grammar. Substantive courses in Russian history, politics, literature, and film are taught in Russian by leading intellectual scholars in Moscow.
Special classes are offered to heritage speakers. Students with fluency in Russian may be permitted to take courses from International University's regular course offerings with local students; otherwise students attend classes with UC students only.
Course Opportunities
You will take an advanced Russian grammar course in addition to elective courses in history and politics, film, and literature.
Following the ILP, three courses are required:
- One advanced Russian course (9.5 UC quarter units)
- Two elective courses (6 UC quarter units each)
Use the following resources to learn about courses on EAP:
- EAP Program Search provides information on general areas of study.
- MyEAP Course Catalog lists courses previously taken by UC students. Additional courses may be available and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in the MyEAP Course Catalog.

On-site Support
EAP students are supported by UC's network of EAP offices at every UC campus and partnerships with EAP host universities throughout the world. A UC faculty director and EAP staff member in Moscow will help you integrate into the local culture and provide assistance with academics, housing, safety, and other issues.
See the EAP Program Guide (PDF) for program-specific details about host institutions, program structure, and courses; academic culture and conduct; internships, research, & independent study; units, exams, and grades; orientation; housing; and information about the intensive language program (if applicable).

IUM is conveniently located just beyond the main Moscow ring metro line between the Belorussian train station and the Dynamo sports complex, on Leningradsky Prospekt. IUM serves primarily the sons and daughters of the new middle class in Russia, providing general undergraduate education aimed at professional careers.
