Overview
Choose from a wide variety of courses taught in English at one of the best universities in Sweden. The semester and year options begin with orientation and an intensive language program (ILP). During the fall and spring terms, you may continue language study and take regular university courses, many of which are offered in English. You can take advantage of excursions and activities offered through the university to gain knowledge of Sweden and the region. The university hosts thirteen “nations” or student social clubs, each with their own unique activities and culture.
Students attend classes with Swedish and international students.
Course Opportunities
You can choose from among 90 educational programs in the sciences, engineering, social sciences, and humanities offering course work in English.
Use the following resources to learn about courses on EAP:
- EAP Program Search provides information on general areas of study.
- Lund University websites:
- MyEAP Course Catalog lists courses previously taken by UC students. Additional courses may be available and not all courses may still be offered. Since courses in new programs have not yet been taken for credit, they may not appear in the MyEAP Course Catalog.
Units
You will take a full-time course of study on EAP. Students normally enroll in four to six courses per semester.
ILP: 5 UC quarter units in Swedish language
Term: 20 to 24 UC quarter units per semester
You may earn up to 60 UC quarter units during the academic year abroad and should carefully plan academic progress toward your UC degree.
Language of Instruction
English or Swedish; although the primary language at Lund University is Swedish, many courses are offered in English.
Language Study
The program begins with a two-week Swedish intensive language program (ILP). Additional Swedish language study is optional.
Internships, Research, and Independent Study
Internships for academic credit and independent study projects may be possible in this program. Arrangements are generally made at the EAP Study Center after arrival. Throughout the year you can volunteer at schools and observe the teaching of English. This is not a formal program, however, so you must personally contact a local school to set it up. If you choose to stay after the program and you have acquired sufficient knowledge of Swedish, you can also look at internships through Lund’s Arbetslivscenter.

On-site Support
EAP students are supported by UC’s network of EAP offices at every UC campus and partnerships with EAP host universities throughout the world. EAP staff in Lund will help you integrate into the local culture and provide assistance with academics, housing, safety, and other issues.
Lund University also offers the Mentor Programme—a service provided by volunteer students to help international students learn about living in Lund.
See the EAP Program Guide (PDF) for program-specific details about host institutions, program structure, and courses; academic culture and conduct; internships, research, & independent study; units, exams, and grades; orientation; housing; and information about the intensive language program (if applicable).
