Programs by Language

From Arabic to Italian, Japanese to Punjabi, Russian to Vietnamese, and countless dialects in between, the possibilities are endless when EAP makes the world your UC campus.

Learn Another Language

From beginning language instruction to intensive language training, or through concurrent language study, many choices are available.

EAP offers language and culture programs that focus primarily on language acquisition. Some do not require any prior language study while others do have language prerequisites. This is an especially valuable option for beginning and intermediate language study.

Intensive language programs help you advance readily through grammar and vocabulary basics. The location abroad then provides an opportunity to strengthen these skills in daily conversations. This combination allows you develop your language ability quickly both within and beyond the classroom.

EAP students often take advantage of unique opportunities to learn languages not commonly taught at UC campuses. Study an unusual language (from Afrikaans to Hindi or Quechua to Zulu) along with your major degree courses.

Take Courses Taught in a Foreign Language

Many EAP programs offer full immersion in regular university courses taught in the language of the host country. These programs begin with a required intensive language program (ILP) to help you prepare before regular classes begin. This option allows you to maximize your fluency in the host language.

Study in English

If you do not speak another language, almost all EAP countries (except Chile and Russia) have at least one program option that doesn’t require prior language study. EAP has options with courses taught in English in over 30 countries, including many where English is not the first language of the host culture.
