Academics
Courses, Credits, and Grades
The most important aspect of participation in EAP is the academic progress your son or daughter will make while abroad. Along with the experience of living in another country, learning about its culture, and participating in a different educational system, your child will take courses that earn direct UC credit and grades while making normal progress toward a UC degree.
Before departure, your son or daughter will work closely with his or her home campus EAP staff in addition to departmental advising staff to discuss the types of courses to take abroad. Such predeparture planning assures that your student receives the maximum academic credit for the work accomplished abroad and makes the post-EAP return to his or her UC campus as smooth as possible.
The academic regulations of EAP closely mirror those of UC but are not identical to those of any one campus. The EAP Study Center Director abroad interprets and enforces EAP’s academic policies and procedures and the requirements of the specific program.
