Language of Instruction

Italian

Language Study

The program begins with a four-week Italian intensive language program (ILP). Additional Italian language study may be required during the year.

Internships, Research, and Independent Study

Internships for academic credit and independent study projects may be possible in this program. Arrangements are generally made at the Study Center after arrival at the host institution.

Units

You are required to take a full-time course of study on EAP.

Pre-ILP: 3 to 12 UC quarter units
ILP: 3 to 6 UC quarter units (upper division)
Term: Semester and academic year students take a minimum 18 UC quarter units per semester and 36 units per year. The average course load is three to four courses per term.

Housing

Most students attending the year-long program live in university residences or private apartments with host country students, international students, or UC students. Homestays are also available. Students attending for just a semester live in either university residences or homestays.

On-site Support

EAP students are supported by UC’s network of EAP offices at every UC campus and partnerships with EAP host universities throughout the world. UC faculty and local staff abroad help students integrate into the culture of their host country and provide assistance with academics, housing, safety, and other issues.

See the EAP Student's Guide (PDF) for program-specific details about host institutions, program structure, and courses; academic culture and conduct; internships, research, & independent study; units, exams, and grades; orientation; housing; and information about the intensive language program (if applicable).
