Summary
Live and study in one of the oldest and most historically important cities in Spain. Córdoba is particularly appealing during the spring semester when the festival calendar is busy. This language acquisition program combines classroom time with regular social and cultural events in Córdoba and longer weekend excursions. All such activities are incorporated into the curriculum and make it possible to complete the second year of Spanish in one semester.
Students attend all classes with UC students.
Duration
Fall semester: early September to mid-December
Spring semester: late January to late May
Qualified fall students may extend their participation to the EAP Hispanic Studies Program at Carlos III University of Madrid for the spring semester, with advanced planning for visas.
Academic Focus
Spanish language and culture. Students who demonstrate a firm command of first-year Spanish language may select an elective course to accompany the required grammar and history courses. Electives include upper- and lower-division choices.

On-site Support

UC faculty and local staff abroad help students integrate into the culture of their host country and provide assistance with academics, housing, safety, and other issues.
See the EAP Student's Guide (PDF) for program-specific details about host institutions, program structure, and courses; academic culture and conduct; internships, research, & independent study; units, exams, and grades; orientation; housing; and information about the intensive language program (if applicable).
Host Institutions
University of Córdoba
With its mix of Jewish, Islamic, and Christian influences, it could be argued that Córdoba is the oldest center of learning in Europe. The University of Córdoba, however, is a modern institution founded in 1972. Drawing on pre-existing academic and research activities in Andalusia, it has become a major research institution in the region, focusing on science and the humanities. The EAP program is organized by UCO Idiomas and is situated in a modern building on the Campus Menéndez Pidal. The EAP office is conveniently located in the same building.

Application Deadlines
Application deadlines and information on the application process are available through your Campus EAP Office.
In addition to your campus deadlines, there are deadlines by which the Campus EAP Office must submit the completed applications and accompanying materials to the Universitywide Office of EAP (UOEAP). For participation in the Program, it is critical that both campus deadlines and UOEAP deadlines are met. If the application is incomplete and not accompanied by the required materials noted, it will be returned to the Campus EAP Office.
Supplemental predeparture materials will be required for many programs, including, but are not limited to, host institution applications, visa and housing applications, medical clearances, etc.
