Host Institutions
Hanoi University
Hanoi University was established in 1959 as a school for language interpreters and teachers to provide training for Vietnamese students planning to study abroad. In 1967, it was officially designated the Hanoi University of Foreign Studies. In 2002, it expanded to offer bachelor’s degree programs taught in English and other foreign languages in a number of disciplines, including business administration, tourism management, finance, international studies, and computer science. To reflect this new orientation as a multidisciplinary institution, the university changed its name to Hanoi University (HANU) in 2006.
In the coming years, HANU plans to deepen and broaden its offerings in the fields noted above, while preserving its traditional strengths in foreign language training; to this end, HANU has partnered with a number of foreign universities. Thanks to these international partners and its policy of encouraging internships and practical experience, HANU is one of the most successful in Vietnam in providing its students with the training and skills they need to participate in the nation’s fast-growing economy. Hanoi University will continue to play a leading role in promoting Vietnam’s policies of reform, development, and global integration.
