 UCEAP Scholarships

$1.5 Million Promise Awards

We are excited to provide increased funding for scholarships to further our commitment to international education. In line with our promise to make study abroad accessible to all UC students, UCEAP will offer over $1.5 million in scholarships this year. The Promise Awards range from $1,000 for summer to $2,000 for fall, spring, or academic year programs. Over 500 awards will be allocated to qualified students. 

Program Scholarships

Special one-time program scholarships are available in the 2018-19 academic year. Students who participate in year-long programs will receive a $2,000 program scholarship, and those who participate in these select summer, fall and spring programs will receive a $1,000 or $2,000 scholarship - no application required!

Duttenhaver Scholars Program

Designed specifically for students who will be studying abroad for a year on UCEAP, the Duttenhaver Scholars Program will offer more than 25 awards of $5,000 this year to students based on academic performance and financial need. 


Paul Duttenhaver Extension Scholars Program

Designed for students who extend from a quarter or semester to spend a full year abroad on UCEAP, the Paul Duttenhaver Extension Scholars Program will offer 6 awards of $2,500 this year to students based on academic performance and financial need. 

Dan Wise Memorial Scholarship

In memory of her close friend, Dan Wise, UCEAP donor Linda Duttenhaver developed awards for students who will be studying in France for a year on UCEAP. 8 awards of $5,000 will be offered to students based on academic performance and financial need. 

UCEAP Guardian Scholarship

The UCEAP Guardian Scholars program supports former foster youth who are pursuing their dreams of study abroad with UCEAP. One award of $2,500 is available annually. To apply for this award, you must submit an application for the UCEAP Promise Award.

Jasmine Jahanshahi Scholarships

For students who have demonstrated academic excellence and a strong commitment to global issues. Two awards in the amount of $2,500 each will be offered yearly to students participating in semester or year-long UCEAP programs. To apply for this award, you must submit an application for the UCEAP Promise Award.

STA Start the Adventure Scholarship

For every UCEAP student who uses STA to book a flight, STA donates to a scholarship fund supporting future students participating on UCEAP programs. Each year STA funds a number of STA Start the Adventure Scholarships of $1,000 each for UCEAP students participating on summer programs. To apply for this award, you must submit an application for the UCEAP Promise Award.

India International Summer School, New Delhi

Scholarships will be available for up to ten UCEAP students studying at the International Summer School in New Delhi, India. Amounts awarded will be between $420 - $1,400 dependent on the number of UC participants.

Mexico Initiative Scholarship 

Up to 25 scholarships awards of $1,000 for summer programs and $2,000 for spring and fall programs are available for undergraduate students studying in Mexico. In support of the UC-Mexico Presidential Initiative, UCEAP is proud to announce that $50,000 in scholarships will be set aside this year for students studying abroad in Mexico. 

Undergraduate Research Awards

These awards recognize undergraduate students who have conducted exceptional research while studying abroad on UCEAP. Awards, consisting of a $1,000 stipend each, are offered annually in each of three disciplinary areas: the humanities, social sciences, and sciences and engineering. 

UCEAP Internship Awards

UCEAP honors exceptional internship experiences with the UCEAP Internship Award. Awards in the amount of $1,000 are offered annually to recognize students who have distinguished themselves through internships conducted while studying abroad on UCEAP. 


Graduate School Scholarship for UCEAP Alumni

All UCEAP alumni are eligible for a guaranteed $5,000 scholarship toward a master's degree program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. The Institute offers graduate degrees in a variety of international fields, as well as a number of joint degree and certificate programs.

Crowdfunding Your Study Abroad

Many enterprising students are finding success with crowdfunding—a method of raising money online. We've partnered with Indiegogo, the largest global crowdfunding platform, to help UC students raise funds towards their study abroad experience. Being a part of our Indiegogo partner page  will give you more opportunities to extend your network and attract potential contributors.
