UCIE PROGRAM
REVIEWS
The UC Academic Senate, through the University Committee on International
Education (UCIE), exercises academic oversight over EAP. Among other
responsibilities, UCIE reviews new programs after the first three
years, and reviews all Study Centers and programs every ten years
or as conditions require. Review Committee membership is approved
by UCIE and usually consists of four faculty members (including
a member of UCIE) who have knowledge of the country and, preferably,
of the partner institutions and academic foci of the program under
review.
Under the oversight of EAP’s Associate Dean, the Program Development
team manages the Program Review process, which includes providing
the Review Committees with detailed information on the programs
and Study Center(s) in the country under review. A site visit may
be undertaken by the Review Committee. The Committees also receive
a list of questions designed to solicit their guidance on specific
issues that may be facing particular programs or Study Centers.
The reviews provide EAP with a periodic mechanism for in-depth evaluations
of its academic programs, goals, and relationships with host institutions.
