705. BENEFITS, INSURANCE PLAN DIRECTORIES, AND HEALTH CARE FACILITATORS PROGRAM

705.00 Benefits, Insurance Plan Directories, and Health Care Facilitators Program

UC recognizes the unique health care and other insurance needs of SC Directors and their families while working abroad. UC offers a flexible, comprehensive health program, which covers members both internationally as well as in the U.S., should any eligible dependents choose not to relocate.

Note: SC Directors enrolled in HMO programs or the Blue Cross Plus plans are only covered for emergency care benefits outside of the U.S. SC Directors will need to change insurance plans in order to receive full coverage. If an SC Director is enrolled in dental, vision, legal, and life and disability insurance through his or her UC campus, it will remain in effect.

SC Directors should visit their home campus Benefits Office and establish contact with a benefits representative 30-45 days prior to departure in order to meet deadlines for changes to insurance coverage. The representative can assist in changing addresses in the University's system and answer questions about enrollment in a worldwide medical insurance plan.

UC's At Your Service website offers additional guidance on health plan options and transition to a worldwide coverage plan, as well as contact directories for various insurance plans and health care facilitators at each campus.
